Cliff’s Vida Nova Wine gets 5 stars ★★★★★ from Denmark’s top newspaper, Berlingske!
Well done to everyone at Adega do Cantor and the Danish team.
We have translated the article from the Danish newspaper below.
Buying a vineyard has become a widespread phenomenon among musicians, actors and celebrities with money in their pockets. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, for example, have settled in Provence, Francis Ford Coppola has a well established vineyard in California, and Cliff Richard in his old age has become a wine grower in Portugal. Who would have thought that Sir Cliff could make wine?
He probably can't, but he is helped along by talented people who made this week's test-wine, Vida Nova, really outstanding. The evidence is that the vineyard is more than just an idle indulgence for Cliff, and he is often seen doing his bit among the grape-pickers during harvest.
The Vida Nova wines were previously sold here in Denmark by HJHansen / Vinspecialisten, but they now have a permanent place on the shelves of Super Best. Even now - a month and a half after their debut - Vida Nova is the chain's top selling wine from Portugal. And that's certainly no coincidence. The wines represent a fine blend of modern wine -making and very much reflect the authentic Portugal. It's rustic structure, finely balanced with polished soft fruits, makes it the perfect mealtime accompaniment.
At the winery, they make red, rosé and white wine. The most popular and sought - after is reportedly the rosé, but in my view it is the red wine which is the hit of the range.
